How do I make a will? What happens if I don't make a will? What does an executor do? What is power of attorney?
You can find the answers to these and many other questions in the Wills, estates and planning ahead topic.
Where do I start?
Planning ahead tools has information and videos on wills, power of attorney, enduring guardianship and advanced care directives.
Speaking for myself: planning for later life decision-making is a short and easy to understand guide to wills, power of attorney, enduring guardians and advanced care directives. It is available online or you can order it from Legal Aid NSW.
Visiting the State Library to do some research?
The State Library has a large collection of text books, looseleaf services, legal encyclopaedias, databases, journals, legislation and court reports.
Looseleaf services are an excellent source of information as they contain commentary about cases and legislation and are updated frequently. The Succession law and practice New South Wales looseleaf service has detailed information on topics including wills, probate, intestacy, estate administration, grants of administration, family provision, costs and fees.
