The NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (the Tribunal, or NCAT) is the main forum for resolving disputes about residential tenancies in New South Wales.
From 1 January 2014 NCAT replaced the Consumer, Trader and Tenancy Tribunal (the CTTT), which was the previous forum for resolving tenancy disputes.
In most respects NCAT operates similarly to the CTTT. The most significant differences relate to appeals and applications to vary or set aside a decision (previously ‘rehearings’). See the section on Changing a decision.
